Modernizing two units in the original powerhouse at Rock Island Dam, and upgrades for three others are paying dividends. Kirk Hudson, Generation and Transmission managing director for the Chelan County PUD told PUD commissioners yesterday (mon) that the work has extended the life of the equipment and improved power output and efficiency.
Hudson says modernization work on the B-10 unit resulted in a 13% increase in efficiency and an output increase of about three megawatts.
