Chelan County PUD officials are meeting Saturday with Lake Wenatchee area residents who have been without fiber-optic service since before Christmas. PUD commissioner Norm Gutzwiler says PUD staff looked at using wireless technology to get the service back on line sooner, but determined that wouldn't work in the rugged region. The PUD will replace about five and a half miles of damaged fiber. Work won't start until sometime in Mid-March and could take three months. That includes a six week bidding period to either choose a company to do the work, or decide to do the work in-house.
The community meeting to answer questions and outline next steps is set for noon Saturday at the Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club.
