01/25/13 Wenatchee Wild Move to BC League Moving Forward (AUDIO)

An official with the British Colombia Hockey League confirms that the Wenatchee Wild is close to inking a deal to join the league next season. The League's Governor Mark Wagstaff, owner of the Victoria Grizzlies, says the League's Board of Governors has given their OK to the plan. During last night's broadcast of the Wild vs. Kenai River game on KPQ, Wagstaff said a number of issues have apparently been resolved, but he sounded confident the move will be approved by Hockey Canada. The move allows for the current Wild franchise to remain in the North American Hockey League, but moving to a different city. The Wild team joining BC Hockey would be an expansion franchise. Wagstaff said a final announcement of a deal could be made soon:
The main advantage for the Wild in joining BC Hockey would be a reduction in travel time and costs, with the longest trip an almost 700-mile trip to Prince George, but which could be part of a multi-city road swing.
