Authorities report the body of a climber who was killed over the weekend in a mountain climbing accident in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness was recovered Wednesday. Sgt Kent Sisson with the Chelan County Sheriff's Department says search and rescue coordinators worked with a Snohomish County helicopter crew to recover the body of Matthew Trinkle from Dragontail Peak where he had been free climbing alone. Trinkle had told friends he planned to scale the mountain on Saturday and return that night. His body was discovered Sunday by another group of climbers. Sisson says Trinkle may not have had the experience or equipment needed for a free climb of such difficulty.
Bad weather prevented a helicopter from accessing the remote area on Monday and Tuesday.
