A helicopter, dedicated searchers and a strong pair of lungs helped officials find a missing Montessano man who became lost in the Poe Mountain area of Chelan County. That's in the Lake Wenatchee area. John Wisemore with the Chelan County Sheriff's office says 43 year old Loren Anderson was reported missing Tuesday morning by Anderson's father after the man failed to show up for work after spending the weekend scouting the area for a future bear hunt. Wisemore says crews were able to hear Anderson yelling for help Tuesday afternoon, but because he was wearing camouflage and because of the terrain and thick brush, it was difficult to pinpoint the missing man's location. Wisemore says searchers spent the night on the ground and where able to re-establish verbal communication this (wed) morning. At about nine a.m. a Fairchild Air Force helicopter located Anderson and was able to take him to the trailhead.Wisemore says the incident is a good reminder for people to be fully prepared when venturing out into the wilderness. While Anderson had provisions, like food and water for an extended stay he did not have a GPS which may have prevented him from becoming lost.
