Chelan County Public Works' Eagle Creek Road Improvement, which was completed last November, has been selected as the "Best County Project" by the State Department of Transportation. Eagle Creek Road, two miles north of Leavenworth off the Chumstick Highway, is the sole access to property within the Eagle Creek valley. Public Works officials say the 3.3 mile long project addressed the roads' narrow lanes, lack of shoulders and winding alignment. More than 100 projects around the state were considered for the award. The award will be officially presented to County officials during the Washington State Association of Counties annual conference, which will be held in November in Wenatchee.
