09/25/11 Barricaded Man Surrenders

A 41 year old Yakima man, who barricaded himself in an East Wenatchee area home Saturday , night was arrested without incident after law enforcement officers threatened to shoot tear gas into the residence. Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal says the suspect reportedly assaulted a woman at a home in the 25 hundred block of State Route 28. The woman, who had an injury on her leg, escaped and called 9-1-1. Gjesdal says the suspect, identified as Bill M. Moore, ran into the residence of an acquaintance and refused to come out. Gjesdal says Moore, who is a supervised offender with the Department of Corrections, had an outstanding for felony escape and a misdemeanor warrant from Douglas County. Gjesdal adds Moore was known to carry weapons and has a history of unlawful firearm possession. Gjesdal says Moore finally came out after he was warned that chemical agents would be deployed if he failed to comply. Moore was arrested without incident and was charged with assault, obstructing and the two warrants. He also faces drug charges as he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
