ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) - The Kittitas County sheriff's office says a 52-year-old Ellensburg man died in a fall from a tree while camping.
Deputies found Ricky Jollo dead at the scene Sunday in the Reecer Creek area, 15 miles north of Ellensburg.
His 19-year-old son, Steven Irwin, said he and his father had had tree-climbing competitions since he was little.
The two were camping with Irwin's younger niece and nephew and had finished a nature walk when Jollow climbed a large pine tree. Irwin heard branches breaking and found his father dead at the base of the tree.
The sheriff's office says there's no indication of a crime or that alcohol was involved.
