OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Officials have lifted a burn ban on state-protected lands.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources says forest landowners can conduct permitted burning as of Saturday. Recent weather has reduced fire danger in most areas, although the state cautions that some areas remain dry and that people need to follow the conditions of their permits. One of those areas is Okanogan County.
The National Weather Service expects that October will bring above normal precipitation to the state.
State officials banned burning at the start of July in order to reduce the number of wildfires.
