10/03/11 Quincy Anti-Gang March

QUINCY, Wash. (AP) - Hundreds of people marched Sunday through Quincy denouncing gang violence and remembering a man who was shot in a confrontation with gang members.

The family and friends of 40-year-old Ramiro Munoz led the march that followed a gathering at Quincy's North Park.

Organizer Junior Alvarez told marchers they were marching to rid themselves of fear.

Authorities say Munoz was a former gang member who was killed Sept. 23 while attempting to protect his children at a family party when nearby gang members began firing.

His widow, Raquel Munoz, led the marchers in chanting "We want peace!" and "Save our kids! Save our town!"
