Leavenworth officials have received a three month extension on a contract with Chelan County for law enforcement services. The Chelan County Sheriff's office provides law enforcement services for Leavenworth, as well as the cities of Chelan, Cashmere and Entiat. County officials wanted those contracts, which include increased costs, signed this month. Leavenworth City Administrator Joel Walinski says city officials wanted more time to negotiate that contract. That extension was approved this week. Chelan County Commissioner Doug England says the costs of training, supervising and supplying deputies has gone up. The Chelan and Cashmere city councils have already signed on the dotted line and that the Entiat city council plan to sign their contract soon.
