The North Central Regional Library, headquartered in Wenatchee, is heading back to Federal Court later this month. Last year the Washington State Supreme Court upheld the Regional Library District's practice of narrowly filtering Internet pages related to pornography and gambling. The Federal Court will hear oral argument for summary judgement. District director Dean Marney says the 5 county rural library district is defending itself in a case brought against it by the Seattle based American Civil Liberties Union. Marney says the library uses the filter as a first line of defense in controlling illegal internet activity. The case goes to Federal Court in Richland on October 25th.
