One man is dead after being shot Sunday night in what Grant County officials say appears to have been an attempted burglary near Moses Lake. Undersheriff Dave Ponozzo with the Grant County Sheriff's office says authorities responded to the 43 hundred block of Ottmar Road NE around nine p.m. and discovered an adult male who had been shot in the home. Ponozzo says the man was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake and then to a Spokane hospital, where he died Monday morning from his injuries. The man's name is being withheld pending notification of family. Ponozzo says it's very early in the investigation and many facts are not yet known. Authorities say they believe the man entered the home during an attempted burglary and was allegedly shot by the occupant of that home. The homeowner is cooperating with investigators and the investigation continues.
