As Wenatchee's Budget tightens...100 or more advocates are expected to show their support in continued funding of the city pool at Tuesday's parks and recreation advisory meeting.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Council Memeber Mark Peterson is coordinating the demonstration. Peterson is stressing what he calls "public safety" pools provided by pools in regards to learning how to swim and keeping youth active.
The risk of cutting the aquatic facility is higher than ever due to budget issues relating to Town Toyota Center's debt.
Peterson says he and Aquatics Management Velocity Swimming are proposing ways to reduce operation costs by 20 to 30-percent.
Cutting the pool out of Wenatchee's budget could free up to 175-thousand dollars.
Peterson says the rally will begin at noon in front of city hall.
Board members will discuss the future of pool operations at 1:30p.m.
