Morning showers didn't dampen the enthusiasm of hundreds of volunteers who took part in Make a Difference Day Saturday in the Wenatchee Valley. Organizer Laurel Helton says volunteers were doing everything from holding a bake sale to benefit Children's Hospital, cleaning yards of disabled neighbors, clearing trailheads and collecting food, clothing and diapers for the needy. She says there were upwards of 50 projects, that they were aware of, including many new projects. Helton says the spirit of community and giving doesn't stop when the Day ends, and she encourages people to continue to volunteer.
