It doesn't appear that Wenatchee Firefighters will be on the City's budget chopping block next year. The latest version of the preliminary budget spares the department from layoffs but nothing is official until the City learns what it will be looking at in terms of debt obligations on the Town Toyota Center. Wenatchee Firefighter Local 563 spokesman , Kelly Lindeman says they are glad the city's preliminary budget doesn't target the fire department, but he is concerned that cuts would greatly impact service. Now negotiating with the City on a new contract, Lindeman says firefighters have been working with the City to cut costs over the past couple of years. Wenatchee firefighters have been rallying on street corners over the past several weeks as a show of unity and support.
