In a political forum hosted by KPQ last night ... Wenatchee mayoral candidates reitterated their views on how to address the City's looming budget crisis and the Town Toyota Center's debt.
Both candidates started off last night (Wednesday) addressing the question of how they would handle the arenas 42 million dollar construction debt.
Mayoral candidate Frank Kuntz offered a three part solution.Kuntz's opponent Shiloh Shauer has taken the position that default is not an option .
A follow up question inquired about the Public Facilities district board's proposal for a .2 percent regional increase in sales tax.
The increase would generate an additional 1.5 million dollars in revenue per year to finance T-C-C's debt.
Kuntz says he would be reluctant to vote for such an increase. Shauer answered that same question using one word..."yes".
Candidates fielded questions
regarding the Public Facilities District's effectiveness in handling the arena's debt and operations. it was one of the only topic of the night both candidates agreed upon with Shauer believing that they're doing their best to restore credibility.
Kuntz said he remains confident that the PFD governing board is doing a good job.
