11/04/11 Pot Case Dismissed

Charges have been dismissed in the case of a Chelan medical marijuana user who was jailed last month on charges of growing more plants than allowed under the States' new medical marijuana law. Charges against Joseph Amendalore were dismissed earlier this week after prosecutors determined that cuttings seized in raid are not considered plants as defined by the new law. Amendalore, who has a doctor's recommendation for three health problems, can legally cultivate up to 45 plants . Deputy Prosecutor, Roy Fore had based his case on laws that deal only with illegal controlled substances .  Amendalore says he was delighted with the outcome calling it a victory for medical marijuana patients.  Amendalore and his wife also operate the Compassionate Care Collective in Chelan County.  Amendalore is organizing an event in Chelan on November 19th to educate the public on the issue of medical marijuana.
