“The bull was good, I just ended up getting hung up,” said Proctor, who now lives in North Carolina. “I’ve always said I wanted to either score 90 points or make the highlight reel, and I guess tonight I made the highlights.”
Before the bull, Black Attack, bucked him off and stomped on him, breaking his arm, Proctor had ridden five of 10 bulls, earning $66,490 on the week to give him $238,249 on the season. Proctor, who won reality TV’s World's Toughest Cowboy contest in 2008, edged defending world champion J.W. Harris for the gold trophy buckle in just his first qualification to rodeo's Super Bowl.
The final bull broke his “free arm,” which is not the one he uses to hold the bull rope. Proctor will likely undergo surgery this week and need eight to 12 weeks of recovery before riding bulls again.
