After lengthy negotiations and some bumpy spots, Wenatchee firefighters have a contract for next year. The City Council Thursday night approved the one year deal. Kelly Lindemann, president of Wenatchee Firefighters local #453 says the contract was approved by union members, unanimously on December 5th.
Part of the contract formalizes the four-platoon system that's been in place for the past couple of years. Fire Chief Stan Smoke says given the number of fire fighters they have now, that configuration is more efficient.
The one year contract includes a point six percent cost of living increase, the same given to other city employees.
