A two mile section of Chiwawa Loop Road between Beaver Valley Road and Shugart Flats Road was closed at about 3-30 Monday afternoon. Chelan County engineer Mitch Reister says wet heavy snow and high winds caused multiple trees to fall onto the county roadway. Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett is asking residents to stay off the roadways in the Plain and Lake Wenatchee area as conditions as of 4-30p.m. Monday continue to be hazardous. RiverCom Dispatch center continues to take numerous hazard calls from downed trees caused from the heavy snow and high winds. The Chelan County PUD is reporting multiple power outages in the Leavenworth, Plain and Lake Wenatchee areas, including parts of the Chumstick Highway, Chiwawa Loop Road, Shugart Flats, South Shore Drive and the Alps in the Tumwater Canyon. RiverCom has also reported roadways blocked due to downed trees on River Road, Cedar Brae (bray) Nason Road and Conard Road. Burnett adds the forecast calls for an two to four inches of snow in the Upper Valley tonight, with winds gusting in excess of 30 miles per hour. He says residents are encouraged not to travel on those local roads unless absolutely necessary.
