LEAVENWORTH, Wash— Winter logging has begun in the Derby Canyon area, which will impact recreational use during weekdays. The Wenatchee River Ranger District asks that visitors should plan on an alternative area for recreation during logging activity. Boise Cascade began winter operations in conjunction with the Canyons Timber Sale last week. Tree falling and yarding operations are now in progress, with logging haul-out beginning this week. Equipment is set up on Forest Service Road #7400, southeast of the junction with FS Road #7500-000. Operations will continue over the winter season as conditions allow. Because of the logging operations, FS Roads 7400 and 7500 will be closed to motorized traffic during operations. There is no hauling on weekends or holidays and no haul before 6:00 am on weekdays.
