Chelan County PUD Looking at Two-Way, Digital Meters

Could Chelan County PUD customers soon be able to track their usage in real time though the internet, an app or some other device? It’s possible according to Suzanne Hartman who says the utility is looking at two-way, digital meters.

“The meter can collect data from your power use at home and transmit that information back to the utility in little short bursts.”

Hartman says the meters would be tested at installation and yearly to guarantee that the readings that they are transmitting are accurate and could be very beneficial to customers.

“Going online and keeping track of the energy that you’re using; you can see how you’re using it during the different parts of the day and maybe change up how you’re doing things so that you can control your bill.”

The first meetings are Saturday at the Lake Wenatchee Recreation Center, Wenatchee Community Center and Beaver Valley Lodge. For more information, visit
