09/21/11 Regional Jobs Report Shows Depressed Tourism
The August labor report for Chelan and Douglas Counties shows a decrease in the jobless rate to 7.3 percent. The figures released by the Washington State Employment Security Department reveal that the manufacturing sector saw a 9.5 percent increase in jobs but the tourism and Service industry lost 200 jobs in August. Regional Economist Mark Berreth said that suggests a slower tourist industry this summer.
