Grant County Detectives recently shut down an alleged illegal marijuana growing operation in George. Sheriff Tom Jones reports that Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team detectives served a search warrant at a residence on Chinook Street last week. Jones says the warrant was based on a citizen's tip that marijuana was easily visible growing in a backyard greenhouse. No one was home when the warrant was served, but INET did find 28 ounces of harvested marijuana, 21 pot plants and 11 thousand dollars in cash. Jones reports that the marijuana operation was allegedly for medicinal purposes, but INET detectives don't believe that's the case as the grow operation did not comply with state statute, and looked more like an illegal marijuana growing operation.
