The Chelan County PUD holds informational meetings Monday and Tuesday in Wenatchee and Chelan to talk about a proposal to switch from tiered rates to a flat rate for residential electric billing. PUD officials say the rate recommendation results in two point five percent more retail electric revenue for the PUD, but with the end of the 9 percent surcharge, customers will see a net overall average decrease of six and a half percent in rates. The meetings are set for 5-30 Monday at the PUD headquarters in Wenatchee. Tuesday's meeting, at the PUD offices in Chelan, also starts at 5-30. PUD commissioners are set to take action on the recommended rate change at their October 17th meeting.
