Quincy's reputation as a mecca for data centers is enhanced with today's announcement of a major new player coming this way. Vantage Data Centers, a Santa Clara, California-based firm, has announced this week that is has entered into a contract to purchase up to 63 acres near the town for a new environment-friendly data center facility and office complex.
The new project in Quincy will be developed in several phases, with the first including a 133,000 square foot data center. Subsequent phases could include a 105,000 square foot Enterprise Technology Center, which would include office space, conference facilities and data center. It will have room for up to 100 employees. A third phase could include an additional 235,000 square foot data center, making the entire complex one of the largest in the region.
Quincy Port Commissioner, Curt Morris says the company's plans for expansion are tailored to what the Port has strived for in its long range strategic plan for industry clusters.
Vantage plans to break ground on the first phase next month, with a completion date set for August 2012.
