It's spring cleanup time, in the fall. Households within Chelan County can bring in unwanted household hazardous waste to several locations throughout the County Saturday. Chelan County Solid Waste Coordinator Brenda Harn encourages people to take advantage of the free event.
Items that are accepted include: motor oil, brake fluid, gasoline, auto flushes and additives, solvents, paints, glues, cleaners, paint removers, polishes, batteries and pool chemicals. Items that won't be accepted include things like commercial. agricultural or biological waste, PCB's and containers larger than five gallons. Harn says the event is free, however a five dollar donation per vehicle to help defray the costs of the event would be appreciated.
Locations include the Chelan County Shop on Easy Street in Wenatchee, from eight a.m. to three p.m., the Peshastin Elementary School from eight a.m. to 10-30am, The Entiat Fire Station, from ten a.m. to noon and in Chelan, at Fire Station #7 at 232 East Wapato Way, from 2-30pm to 5pm
