Hundreds of students from a dozen school districts around the region are learning about salmon, nature and culture, at the 21st annual Wenatchee River Salmon Festival. Volunteer Dave Greybill says the term they use is "edu-tainment", a mix of education and entertainment. The event, at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is open to the general public this weekend, and the Hatchery's Corky Broaddus says they expect ten thousand people to attend the event. Entertainment this weekend runs from ten a.m to five p.m. and includes music, arts and crafts, a native american encampment, storytelling, and an animal costume parade. Kids can also learn how to tie a fishing fly, paddle a kayak, build a fishing rod, learn how to shoot an arrow and use snowshoes.
