About 900 Douglas County PUD electrical customers lost power for a few hours early Wednesday morning and again later in the day. PUD spokeswoman Meaghan Vibbert says the first outage, which affected customers between Empire Street north to Baker Street and from Olds Station Bridge to 13th Street, was first reported around 5-40am. Power was restored three hours later after crews found a tree branch in the line on Sunset and 35th street. Power to that same area went out around 9-40am, and all customers were back on line by 1-25pm. PUD officials say there was a fault where an overhead system goes underground.
About 65 Douglas County PUD electric customers in the western part of Rock Island lost power in the eleven o'clock hour Wednesday morning. That was due to a power pole fire. Power was restored a little before one p.m.
