The Eastmont School District's Gear Up program will last another six years. Eastmont schools are one of the many receiving a portion of the 27-million dollar federal grant.
The award intends to improve student achievement and preparation for college.
According to Eastmont Gear Up Director Adelina Grageda the school district recently graduated their first GEAR UP scholars in June from the previous grant.
Grageda added that all 57 students are enrolled in a college or university this fall and earning a total of almost ten-thousand dollars in scholarships.
Gear Up program activities include mentoring...college campus visits and family activities.
