Taking advantage of historically low two and a half percent interest rates, Grant County PUD is refinancing and paying off existing electric system bonds. PUD spokesman Tom Stredwick says the PUD will save more than $12.5 million by refinancing and paying off existing electric system bonds. The PUD also issued 40 million dollars in additional low interest bonds to finance transmission and distribution system construction projects. Stredwick says even with the increase in new money borrowed, PUD annual debt service payments are projected to remain flat under the refinancing plan with all electric system bonds being paid off in 2023.
