10/22/11 Sweep Nets Four Arrests

The Douglas County Sheriff's office Special Response Team arrested four suspects Friday during a sweep for wanted persons in Bridgeport. Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal says the team checked several locations during the night. The four arrestees were located at a residence in the two thousand block of Tacoma Avenue. Gjesdal says two of the suspects fled when Deputies went to the house. They were pursued and apprehended a short distance from the residence. There were no injuries. The adults were taken to the Okanogan County Jail for booking. The teenager to the Chelan County Juvenile Detention Center.

Those arrested include: Two men, ages 24 and 19, wanted for respectively for unlawful possession of a firearm and assault, a 23 year old woman who failed to appear on a shoplifting charge in Yakima and a 17 year old juvenile male, charged with criminal trespass, minor in possession of alcohol and intimidating a public servant. Gjesdal says after the teen was taken into custody he threatened to come to a Deputy's home and harm him.

Gjesdal says the Sheriff's Office aggressively pursues wanted persons, "to bring them to justice and to communicate a zero tolerance policy towards criminal offenders."
