The North Central Regional Library is heading back to Federal Court Tuesday defending against a case brought by the Seattle office of the American Civil Liberties Union. Regional Library Director Dean Marney says the District's 28 branches use an internet filter to meet federal requirements and filter out things like pornography and gambling categories. Last year the State Supreme Court upheld the Library District's use of filters. Tuesday's court appearance deals with motions left over from that ruling. Marney says the District presented a strong case. Marney says the District's mission is to promote reading and lifelong learning and that removing the filters jeopardizes the safety of kids and would create a hostile environment for library goers and employees.
