For the first time...radio and television providers across the U.S. simultaneously broadcasted an Emergency Alert System Test at 11a.m. Pacific Time yesterday (Wednesday).

The test lasted only 30-seconds with little error according to some but other reports indicated glitches.

KMGH-TV in Denver says viewers with cable saw the alert but those with antennas only saw regular programming.

The television station also says their transmission went without audio for two hours after the test.

Some Wenatchee residents say they saw static on the TV and KPQ radio had double tones.

Rob Harper of Washington State Emergency Management gave the overall test an B+ A- rating claiming that the uniformaty of the broadcast with different technologies can have an impact.

Harper says FEMA and the FCC are practing the nationwide test now in case of a national attack.

Harper says that message may become more uniform moving forward as the FCC anticipates alert broadcasts through cell phones...social media and other applications of Internet within the next two years.
