11/15/11 Car Tab Tax on Wenatchee Council Agenda (more)

Wenatchee city officials are hoping for a strong turnout at Thursday's city council meeting. The city council is once again mulling over enacting a 20 dollar car tab fee to help fund transportation related work. Mayor Dennis Johnson had put the proposal on hold a few weeks ago after council members indicated that before moving forward with a fee, they wanted an advisory vote. At last week's council meeting, some council members indicated they'd like to explore the issue further. Johnson says he's hoping for a strong public turnout at the meeting. Prior public meetings on car tabs were sparsely attended.

If the council approved the 20 dollar car tab fee, it wouldn't go into effect until mid-way through 2012 and would net the city an estimated 250 thousand dollars. Thursday's city council meeting gets underway at 5-15pm at City Hall.
