Default is no longer an option . . It now appears to be a reality for the Town Toyota Center. Lawmakers yesterday refused to vote on a proposed 42-million dollar loan to the arena's owner, the Regional Public Facilities District. But in an exclusive interview this morning with KPQ news, Senator Linda Evans-Parlette held out hope that the action on the bill could come today. . .She told KPQ News this morning that House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, Ross Hunter had announced that the measure was put on the agenda for debate in the house. Regardless, Parlette says it won't be in time to head-off a default. The deadline for paying off the loan is 10 am today. Senator Parlette added that there are several local area stakeholders who invested in the current bond anticipation note Including Douglas County and Central Washington University. Senator Parlette says she and her colleagues in the House have been scrambling to garner support for the bill which apparently still has life in the house. She says she's met with several members of the Senate Ways and Means Committee who have now embraced the bill. The Greater Wenatchee Regional Events Center Public Facilites District made a 1.1-million dollars interest payment on the loan Tuesday. However, officials stressed that a full payment will not be made today.
