12/02/11 Mini-Storage Break-In

Three people, two men and a woman, were arrested Thursday on various charges after they reportedly broke into a mini-storage unit in Cashmere and were loading items into a vehicle. Chief John Wisemore with the Chelan County Sheriff's says officers received a report of a possible theft in progress at the Downtown Mini Storgage on Cottage Avenue. Wisemore says upon contacting the male suspects inside, Sergeant Mike Harris got into an altercation with one of the suspects, whom he recognized as having an arrest warrant.  There were no injuries. Wisemore says the investigation found that the storage unit was rented by one of the suspects, but had been padlocked by the storage unit manager due to an outstanding balance owed. The suspects were arrested on various charges including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, assault 3rd degree, resisting arrest, obstructing a public servant and second degree trespass. He says property seized in the storage unit, as well as the red Suzuki Samurai the suspects were loading property into, may have been stolen. It's not known at this time if any of the items are related to recent burglaries in the Wenatchee Valley.
