WENATCHEE, Wash. –Despite Shawn Pauly's second career hat-trick, the Wenatchee Wild fell in overtime to the Dawson Creek Rage Saturday night at the Town Toyota Center 4-3. Pauly’s first goal of the evening forced a 1-1 tie and sparked the annual teddy bear toss with 3:45 remaining in the second stanza.
The third period was a wild one. Pauly opened scoring 7:49 into the period. Evan Ripley evened the scored, 2-2, with 7:15 remaining in regulation during a Rage power play. Ryan Matthews scored his second goal of the game with 1:07 left in the third period during another Dawson Creek power play to put his club up, 3-2. With an extra attacker on the ice, Wenatchee forced overtime when Pauly picked up his second career hat trick with the Wild on a shot from the slot with 38 seconds left in regulation. The Rage, outshot in the contest 38-18, went on to steal the win in overtime when Austin Adduono scored with 1:25 left in the extra session.
The Wild, who won the first game of the series in overtime, goes for the tie breaker tonight. The third and final game of the series between the Wild (10-7-4) and Rage (7-19-2) will begin at 5:05 p.m. Sunday. Pre-game show on 560 KPQ begins at 4-45pm
