TOPPENISH, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say a transient has been struck and killed by a train in Toppenish.
BNSF Railway spokesman Gus Melonas said the man was in a non-crossing area when he was hit Friday afternoon by an eastbound train traveling from Auburn to Pasco.
Witnesses say the man was with two other people, who fled the scene.
BNSF police are investigating.
