12/15/11 Help Sought In IDing Remains

Grant County authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying skeletal remains found near O'Sullivan Dam in Southeastern Grant County about three weeks ago. Officials with the Grant County Sheriff's office say based on the forensic examination, the victim is believed to be a white or Hispanic male, around 35 years old, who stood between five foot one and six foot one inches tall. The victim had a single gunshot wound, and the circumstances about that injury are unknown. Officials surmise the body had been outside for perhaps a year.

The victim, whose teeth were in poor condition, with silver-colored dental caps on his two front teeth, was wearing multiple layered clothing, including a "Phat Farm" long sleeve t-shirt, a "Phat Farm" short sleeve t-shirt, "Route 66" dark denim pants, waist size 28, an insulated tan and orange colored vest, a black stocking cap and size 8-half black shoes with Velcro closures. Anyone with possible information about the man should call Detective Kim Cook at the Sheriff's Office, 509-754-2011, extension 471.
