A farmer near Quincy put a PITCH fork in a heist for hay Sunday night.
Grant County Undersherriff Dave Ponozzo says deputies caught two individuals in the act of stealing hay from a private residence, the farmer called 911 and hid in darkness until law enforcement arrived.
"The farmer was a victim to hay theft previously," said Ponozzo.
When deputies arrived ...over two tons of alfalfa valued at over 500-dollars was loaded into the pick up truck.
Occupants of the truck that carried stolen hay are identified as 29-year old Lamar Dana of Ephrata and 37-year old David Gottschalk of Quincy.
Ponozzo says he and other deputies appreciate the farmer's efforts in stopping the burglary in progress.
"We need all the eyes we can get, we can't be everywhere at once," said Ponozzo.
Both Dana and Gottschalk are charged with suspicion of third degree theft and second degree criminal trespassing.
