The Department of Ecology's burn bans are expiring today (Dec. 20, 2011) in seven Eastern Washington counties.
The bans in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Ferry, Kittitas, Walla Walla, and Stevens counties will expired at 10 a.m.
Smoke from burning wood to heat homes can cause serious health problems, including lung and heart diseases, during periods of stagnant poor air quality conditions. Ecology's bans do not apply to tribal lands, where E-P-A has jurisdiction.
