Several accidents reported around the Wenatchee Valley this (wed) morning. In Douglas County, Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal reports that deputies were very busy responding to numerous ice related traffic problems between six am and 8-30am. Vehicles, including one semi truck, had slid off the road, into guard rails and into other vehicles. Gjesdal says in one instance, a tow truck that had come to the rescue of a vehicle at NE Nile and 8th street also became stuck on the ice. Both vehicles had to wait for a county road truck to come by and sand the road. No injuries reported in Douglas County.
Jason Matthews with the Chelan County Sheriffs Office says there were several cars in ditches, particularly the Malaga-Alcoa Highway as well as the Wenatchee Heights, Squilchuck Road and a number of side streets. Matthews says the only injury accident he was aware of Wednesday morning was a minor injury accident when a vehicle went off the Malaga-Alcoa Highway.
