12/31/11 Chelan Falls Suspect Stabbed

A burglary suspect is recovering from a stab wound after reportedly attacking a Chelan Falls homeowner with a small baseball bat. Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett says around 11-30 Friday night deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Chelan Street in Chelan Falls. Burnett says the 49 year old home owner told officers a male suspect had just forced entry into his residence. The home owner told officers that the suspect, a 32 year old man known to the home owner, had assaulted him. The suspect was stabbed in the shoulder area with a kitchen knife. Burnett says the suspect fled the scene and was later located at the Lake Chelan Community hospital were he received medical attention for apparent non-life threatening injuries. The home owner was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Burnett says the investigation continues and charges are pending the suspect's release from the hospital.
