Formerly called an outbreak...Grant County Health Officials downgraded their Whooping Cough (Pertussis) outbreak Tuesday.
The outbreak started in 2010 with 28 cases reported and 29 reported last year.
With only one case reported since of October of last year...Shawte (shaw-TAE) Sackett of the Grant County Health District says people taking extra precautions in order to prevent illness.
Shawte says doctors are also "more aware and in-tune" with the disease.
Grant County currently has instated a five year plan to control the disease as they try to revert back to lower pre-outbreak numbers of one to four cases per year.
Sackett says the outbreak in Grant county has not impacted surrounding counties which have an average of two to five cases per year.
