FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Monsters defeated the Wenatchee Wild Saturday, 3-1, to force a split in this weekend’s 2-game series at Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif. The loss halted Wenatchee’s winning streak at four games. Kyle Vogel put the Wild up 1-0 with 4:05 remaining in the first period when he lit the lamp on a wrist shot from the inside of the near faceoff circle after he picked up the puck along the near boards. That was all the scoring for the Wild, who fell to 17-10-4 on the season. Tomas Sholl made 33 saves on 34 shots to earn the win for the Monsters. Wild netminder Robert Nichols suffered just his second regulation loss of the season. He made 26 saves on 29 shots. The Wild will travel to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, next Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a 3-game series against the Rage. The first two games of the series will begin at 6 p.m. Game 3 is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. All three games will be broadcast live on 560 AM KPQ with Chris Hansen and Pat Norlin calling the action.
