The Wenatchee city council last (thu) night approved a one year contract with the local firefighters union. Mayor Frank Kuntz says with talks about forming a Regional Fire Authority underway, it made sense to go with a one year deal rather than look for a three year contract like the city's had with Local 453 in the past. But Councilman, Doug Miller cast the lone no vote on the contract. He explained he wanted to delay the vote until after the RFA negotiations had concluded. Union president, Captain Kelly Lindeman says the firefighters realize the financial situation the city is in, and they were glad to work with city officials to come up with a speedy resolution rather than going through protracted negotiations.
