Repairs to a Wenatchee city water pipe that burst early Thursday morning have been completed. North Wenatchee Avenue between Fifth and Ninth Streets remains closed to through traffic. The city's public works director-operations, Dan Frazier says the pipe broke around three a.m. Thursday. The cause of the break was not immediately known. Frazier says a lot of water rushed out of the pipe and damaged the roadway. The water pressure in the city dropped by 20 pounds immediately after the break. Frazier says while Wenatchee Avenue between Fifth and Ninth Streets remains closed to through traffic, you can access business in that area via Fifth, Seventh or Ninth Streets. Frazier says the road may reopen Thursday evening, or perhaps sometime Friday. The water and mud damaged the road and sidewalks.
