History comes alive at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center Saturday as visitors interact with local actors playing real people from Wenatchee-area history. Actor Pete Mathews, will portray controversial Chelan County Sheriff Pete Wheeler. Wheeler who served during prohibition, was arrested after firing on occupants at a still in Leavenworth, who turned out to be federal agents. Mathews says the role is a challenge as an actor, because in addition to a long monologue, actors need to be able to answer people's questions, in character. Other real-life characters portrayed at Saturday's event include Fern Prowell, the first Apple Blossom queen, philanthropist A.Z. Wells. early apple marketer Conrad Rose, and Wenatchee's first female physician, Dr. Minnie Simmons. People of our Past runs from ten a.m. to 3-30p.m. at the Museum with actor presentations beginning on the h our and half hour. Admission is by donation.
